29 september 2006 - Liberec, Czech Republic - Mlynska: Despite the Liberec to Jablonec interurban tramway being often visited by many enthusiasts, this Tatra T2 #73 somehow escaped notice and has never been shown on TWB - so here it is. Even if it escaped being scrapped many years ago, it won`t last very much longer.

29 september 2006 - Liberec, Czech Republic - Viaduct: This place is exactly that, a turning loop underneath the railway viaduct, just along from the main Liberec railway station. This marks the limit of metre gauge track - lines from here through the city centre are laid with dual gauge track, as well as the central depot, where there are some interesting track layouts as a result. Tatra T2 #26 and its partner #27 wait here to start a journey along the rural interurban line to the nearby city of Jablonec.

29 september 2006 - Liberec, Czech Republic - Centrum: In just over two weeks` time, the very last Tatra T2 trams in passenger service anywhere will be withdrawn. This one and its companion #27 were first introduced in Ostrava in 1958 but came here when interurban Line 11 to Jablonec became the only route not converted to standard gauge in the whole country - work even started here, but never completed. After some modernisation, a few remaining T2 cars have been kept in front line service, but are now 60 years old and being replaced.

21 march 2013 - Liberec - Novy Svet: The last remaining Tatra T2s from 1958 still provide the service along the narrow-gauge interurban tramway between Liberec and Jablonec - you must wonder for how much longer they can continue? A plan to convert the line, now the last remaining metre-gauge tracks in the city, to standard gauge appear to have stalled, probably because of the cost. Tram #18 is shown here on a freezing winter`s day.

21 march 2013 - Liberec - DPML Tramway Depot: On my most recent visit in 2013 I was amazed to find the Tatra prototype tram #85 still stored in the depot and looking very smart. This is one of two prototype trams sent here from Prague in the 1990s after Prague decided it had no further use for them. Liberec ran them for only a very short time and one was scrapped - this one was stored in the depot. I rather thought it would have gone to Poznan in Poland some years ago, as it is the prototype of their small (troublesome) class of these Tatras and, at the very least, would be a useful source of spare parts. Anyway, it seems that it is still here, taking up valuable depot space, over thirty years after it was built!

21 march 2013 - Liberec - DPML Tramway Depot. I have watched this tram taking shape from the early days of its restoration into this full-restored and working vehicle. It is the only surviving tram of the Jablonec system, which closed in 1965.

21 march 2013 - Liberec - DPML Tramway Depot: This 1929 Ringhoffer has been a regular performer on the metre-gauge tracks in this city. Now it has been withdrawn for an experiment (shown here) where it has been fitted with wooden wheels so that it can run on either metre- or standard-gauge tracks.

21 march 2013 - Liberec - Tramway Depot: I just managed to catch a photo of this Tatra KT4D whilst it was in Liberec - it came here from Gera and left soon afterwards for Szeged in Hungary. A rather strange tram for Liberec to obtain, as they haven`t ever had any KT4s in their fleet (unless there was a plan to use similar trams to replace the remaining Tatra T2s on the Jablonec interurban?)

27 may 2018 - Liberec, ul. Ještědská. Wbrew pozorom nie jest łatwo zmieścić w jednym kadrze tramwaj i symbol Liberca - górę Ještěd (1012 m n.p.m.), gdyż w tych nielicznych miejscach, gdzie tory wywijają się we właściwą stronę, zadanie utrudniają wyrośnięte drzewa.

21 march 2013 - Liberec, Czech Republic: The one remaining metre-gauge tram line between Liberec and Jablonec is a favourite with enthusiasts as it is a largely single track interurban route through dense forest. It also uses Tatra T2 vehicles, which are the oldest on the network and have been quite extensively refurbished to keep the line going. For many years there has been a plan to close the line and divert traffic to a parallel railway route (and some dual-gauging has taken place quite recently), but the project appears to have stalled and you can still ride these nice trams for the foreseeable future.

1 may 2017 - Liberec, Felberova. Urbanway na linii 25 jedzie "pod prąd" objazdem spowodowanym remontem ulicy Rumuńskiej. Swoją drogą spodobały mi się te autobusy i przyjemnie się nimi podrózowało mimo, że to Iveco. Może dlatego, że w to dość młode wozy.

Kiedy w Polsce dogorywają ostatnie resztki zintegrowanej autobusowej komunikacji lokalnej, w Czechach przygotowują się do konsolidacji transportu autobusowego w drodze powołania samorządowych przewoźników, zarządzających siecią połączeń na obszarze całego kraju ( odpowiednika naszego województwa). Władze czterech Krajów: Usteckiego, Libereckiego, Środkowoczeskiego, Pilzeńskiego oraz Karlowarskiego wyliczyły, że zlecanie przewozów prywatnym podmiotom w drodze przetargów doprowadziło co całkowitej utraty kontroli nad rzeczywistymi kosztami prowadzenia transportu autobusowego. Efektem są rosnące z roku na rok nakłady na utrzymywanie siatki połączeń autobusowych. Regionalne władze ustawodawcze zarzucają także prywatnym kompaniom brak jakichkolwiek działań w zakresie optymalizacji wielkości taboru obsługujące mniej obłożone trasy. Najbardziej zaawansowane działania są wdrażane w Kraju Usteckim, że uchwalono powołanie samorządowej spółki już w 2019 roku. Przejmie ona wszystkie trasy po wygaśnięciu umów z czterema działającymi na jego obszarze firmami. Kraj Liberecki rozważa nabycie większościowych pakietów akcji w Buslinie, CSADach Ceska Lipa oraz Liberec. Podobne działania podjęto już w pozostałych dwóch regionach.
