3 december 2008 - Warszawa, ul. Radiowa. W Warszawie w bardzo szybkim tempie odbywa się modernizacja Ikarusów. Ulepszenie pojazdów odbywa się przez zamontowanie z przodu i z tyłu wspaniałych wyświetlaczy (R&G). Dzięki temu poprawi się.... Właśnie jestem ciekawy co się poprawi, gdyż na pewno nie czytelność informacji o linii. Nawet przy dzisiejszej deszczowej pogodzie łatwiej odczytać numer brygady (o numerze wozu nie wspomnę) niż numer linii.

30 november 2008 - Warszawa, teren lotniska. Taka śmiechowa linia jeździła od soboty do poniedziałku. Teoretycznie miała wozić uczestników szczytu klimatycznego a w praktyce woziła powietrze + kilka przypadkowych osób. Obsługę objęła zajezdnia Redutowa z dwoma U18 (#8834, #8835). Linię 975 można będzie spotkać jeszcze 9, 10, 12, 13 i 14 grudnia.

It was constructed by joining two 1926 four-wheelers together to form this articulated vehicle (in England, we call this type “two rooms and a bath”). This was the first of many articulated cars in the Wien fleet

A 1939 Third Avenue Railway tram, one of a batch sent to Wien in 1949 as part of the Marshall Plan to re-equip war-torn European cities and was classified as the Wien Z Type. Because of their great width and length, these could only be used on certain routes with widely-spaced tracks.

Sadly, all the more exotic ones have now gone and the works fleet is quite standardised. A few years ago, however, trams like this were a frequent sight in the city.

The wonderful Wien tramway museum is one of the finest in the world (if not THE finest?). The city has kept a great many old vehicles and, as well as opening their buildings to the public, operates trams regularly throughout the year. Their collection is over 100 vehicles, all kept under cover in an old tram depot. Every tram fan should try to go there! This picture shows just a small part of one depot building.
