Dwie linie - 6 i 8, łączą kilka mniejszych miasteczek z Darmstadtem. Większość trasy jest wydzielona a tylko w centrach miasteczek wiedzie zwykłymi ulicami.

6 september 2008 - Darmstadt (DE) – Hauptbahnhof/Dworzec Glowny. The city of Darmstadt has a compact, metre-gauge tramway network with one long interurban line. The system is still being extended and the trams are kept in immaculate condition. Some express services run at peak times, missing out stops on the interurban line - as there aren’t any special passing places, this requires some quite clever scheduling.

27 july 2004 - Darmstadt, Germany – depot/zajezdnia Bollenfalltor. Naumburg trams aren’t often seen on Phototrans and this one is a long way from home being renovated by HEAG. The small Nauburg tramway closed for a while but was re-opened by enthusiasts who ran the trams just a few times a year. Lately, however, operation has become more frequent. This was the last old-style ‘ringbahn’ tramway that ran a circular service along a single track through the city from the railway station. Now, sadly, part of the circle has gone and is unlikely to be rebuilt. This tram was once a Gotha motor car but was converted in 1993.

The trams decorations are a bit ‘over the top’ but far worse inside…… The vehicles are actually Rathgebers from the early 1950s - motor car 17 and trailers 183/184. I’m not entirely sure what Ditterich is, but I guess you drink it.

6 september 2008 - Darmstadt, Germany – Seeheim, Schulstrasse. At the end of a section of street track, where trams run onto reserved track for the rest of the way to Alsbach. This interurban line is long and quite fast, and even has some limited-stop, ‘express’ trams at peak times.

6 september 2008 - Darmstadt, Germany - Ludwigshohstrasse. Even in such tight places, other traffic is permitted to use the street. Here, car 9867 comes up the hill from the city centre on a gutter-running track. These trams are a bit ‘boxy’ and not very stylish, but seem reliable.

6 september 2008 - Darmstadt, Germany - Weinbergstrasse. Darmstadt has a quite extensive metre-gauge tramway network that is now being extended again after some closures a few years ago. Line 3 passes through an older part of the city on single track in some very narrow streets and is also steeply graded in places. Car 9867 completely fills the street as it enters a passing loop, leaving hardly any room for other traffic.

The HEAG tramway operator in Darmstadt has obtained this small, metre gauge locomotive and various passenger carriages in order to recreate a typical German roadside steam tramway. The tram runs regularly for parties and enthusiast groups. Here, it waits to start a trip along interurban Line 8 to Alsbach.
