Hi JP - Yes, still working with new lines added and longer trains. It runs in the air, also under the ground (and under River Thames). Operated by Transport for London .
of course! now they're gonna upgrade it to operate in 3-carriage sets ..so the platforms are being extended. DLR is going to be very busy during the olympics in 2012.
This first type of train was sold, because they could not operate into the tunnels of the new lines. All trains now have emergency doors at the front and back. Also, remember the operation is automatic - no driver.
@JP - no, Victoria Line was first (with a little Underground line experiment before this).
It's the first DRIVERLESS automatic system in the UK, albeit 'train captains' were introduced later on to help passengers feel safe. As for the picture - damn, they've come a long way!
