All trams all also trains, but not really "railway trains" Or am I wrong?
In my opinion all photos of underground should be in railway phototrans.eu, because it's railway Yes, I agree with You dvigar, this photo is hard to decide
@shinkadamo: what about Stadtbahn systems in Germany? It's not as easy as you might've thought. In our times differences between underground and tramways are turning to steam. And in my humble opinion, phototrans.eu2 certainly is place for tube photos. And remember please, how "nice" photos from other countries (especially metro) are or were welcomed by lots of users.
I love a good argument! But I agree, it's a difficult case. Many years ago, this type of operation was very common and was either a tram or a 'light railway'. How do we decide about OEG and RHB around Mannheim, Kassel tram-trains (trams operating on railways under railway laws) and about mixed tram and train operation on the same tracks, like in Nordhausen, Zwickau etc.? 'Light rail' can mean alsmost anything these days. Just because this doesn't look like everyone's idea of a (modern) tram, it doesn't necessarily have to be a train. 100 years ago, the argument would not exist!
I thought this might make people think!!
This gallery is divided into two parts - URBAN public transport, and railways. Straszny, myself, and a couple of other people decided to move any underground railways to this section, because we were sick and tired of having those photos rated poorly, and of a general lack of interest in the subject (plus stupid comments like "why don't you take a photo between the stations"?). As for German systems, we shouldn't take the German EBO/BOStrab division, but use a typical "duck test" approach - if it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it IS a duck. Hence RHB, OEG, etc. are TRAMWAYS. And so is this one, because it runs on tramway infrastructure. With Karlsruhe, Saarbruecken and Kassel it all gets a little blurry, but I would still add those light rail vehicles to here - pictures of anything other than a "real" train on the rail part generally get ignored.
