18 december 2010 - Phoenix, Trolley Museum. Wydeptując ścieżkę pod płotem muzeum. Obiekt ten prowadzony jest w czynie społecznym przez lokalnych miłośników i czynny tylko w soboty. Wejść można jednak tylko do widocznego w tle hangaru, w którym remontowany jest zabytkowy wagon. Ekspozycja na powietrzu jest zamknięta - opiekunów nie stać na wykupienie ubezpieczenia OC. Jest to oczywiście uzasadnione - jakby jakiś dzieciak złamał sobie nogę skacząc po tramwaju, to dobry adwokat wyciągnąłby parę milionów $ odszkodowania. Na zdjęciu widzimy ponad stuletnią lokomotywkę oryginalnie pracującą w jakiejś kopalni, a później jako technical equipment na pierwszej sieci tramwajowej w Phoenix, istniejącej do 1948 r.

29 september 2008 - Bucuresti, Romania – URAC. To complete the set, here is a picture of ‘donkey’ 998B, which was standing inside a shed on the day I visited. I don’t know the precise history of these locomotives, but they have been around for some time and were presumably built here from tram components. They don’t venture out of the works complex.

29 september 2008 - Bucuresti, Romania – URAC. The green ‘donkey’ standing outside the main tramway overhaul workshops. The underframes of these three locomotives are based on old tramcars – there are several flat trucks around the site with identical features and I suspect these were 1920s Thompson type 4-wheelers, withdrawn in the early 1970s.

29 september 2008 - Bucuresti, Romania – Uzina de Reparatii Altelierele Centrale (‘URAC’). This is an amazing place - the RATB central bus and tram workshops. Here they do everything, from building new vehicles, to repairs and overhauls, to scrapping. Many of the buildings were originally built for horse trams. Three little tram shunting locomotives are used to move vehicles around the site – the staff call them ‘donkeys’, which is quite a good description for the work they do.

7 july 2007 - Warszawa – ZETiT, ul. Obozowa. The Warsaw tramways track maintenance depot is a fabulous place for works cars fans like me. Here are just some of their treasures. First, one of the two little centre-cab locomotives used to move rail vehicles around the depot. These don’t seem to have fleet numbers, so I have used the asset number painted on the body side to identify them.
