Other Information | The company includes the operation of Arriva Southern Counties, Arriva Kent Thameside, Arriva Kent & Sussex, Arriva Kent & Surrey, Arriva Southend, Arriva Medway Towns, Arriva Guildford & West Sussex. The Kent part of Arriva Southern Counties` history goes back to deregulation in 1986, when Maidstone & District passed into management ownership. New Enterprise Coaches was bought by that company in 1988. Another company purchased was Boro`Line Maidstone, the former Maidstone Borough Council Transport operation, taken over in 1992. In 1994 British Bus purchased Kentish Bus, in 1988 they had also brought Londonlinks. The British Bus Group became part of the Cowie Group in 1996, two years later the name changing to Arriva. In 1998 the name Arriva Southern Counties was first used. Alder Valley`s depots in Cranleigh, Guildford and Woking were brought by British Bus in 1990. They also took over Colchester Borough Transport and Southend Transport, both in 1993. The British Bus Group became part of the Cowie Group in 1996, two years later the name changing to Arriva. At the same time London & Country operation passed to Arriva Southern Counties, this was another British Bus company. In 2001 the Crawley depot was sold to Metrobus. Another depot to pass to Metrobus was the Horsham operation in 2009. In 2004, Arriva Colchester was sold to Tellings-Golden Miller. In 2015 this company returned into ownership of Arriva Southern Counties, being joined by the Network Harlow operation at the same time. Dartford and Grays depots were transferred to Arriva London operation in 2016 along with the London red bus operation of Arriva Southern Counties.
