13 june 2008 - Dublin, Parnell Square. Such American-looking monsters came to Dublin between 1997 and 1999. Only after 2000 did Dublin start buying low-floor vehicles. Generally - looking at the quality of services provided by Dublin Bus, a state-owned company in a regulated market, I'm starting to understand why the UK opted for deregulation, assuming British bus companies were in a similar state back then. Dublin Bus only accepts exact payments in coins, the network map looks a whole lot worse than the MPK Poznan one, and the shortest-duration integrated ticket (bus, tram, DART suburban rail) is 24h - and that's despite the fact, that buses (city and suburban/intercity Bus Eirann buses) and the DART belong to the same state-owned holding. But the cherry on top has got to be the timetable format - only departure times from the termini are given, along with travel times between 3-4 waypoints. In a free market like in the UK such a company would not last 5 years.
