14 may 2007 - Fulpmes, Tirol, Austria/Osterreich. The independent Stubaitalbahn was integrated with Innsbruck tramways in 1983. This tram originally ran in Hagen as a GT6 and was later extended with a centre section from a Bielefeld car. Innsbruck was, until very recently, the last all-Duwag system in the world, but replacement Bombardier low-floor cars are now starting to arrive, so scenes like this will soon vanish.

14 may 2007 - Fulpmes, Austria – At the pretty little Stubaitalbahn station, GT8 car 83 waits with a morning service to Innsbruck. Until earlier this year, IVB Innsbruck was an all-Deuwag operation, but low-floor cars are now creeping in to replace many of these attractive and well-maintained cars.

14 may 2007 - Fulpmes, Austria. Inside Deuwag car 83, the original schaffnerplatz (conductor’s desk) still remains at each end, although no longer used. The 2 + 1 seating is very comfortable.

14 may 2007 - Fulpmes, Austria. The Stubaitalbahn station at Fulpmes is as far as a tram can go along the valley. This picture show why - huge mountains block the way on all sides.

14 may 2007 - Innsbruck, AT - Hauptbahnhof: A Duewag GT8 tram waits at Innsbruck Station for the wonderful 18km trip into the nearby countryside to the village of Fulpmes, known as the Stubaitalbahn. This was once an independent line and was eventually absorbed into the Innsbruck network. These beautiful trams have now been replaced by new low-floor vehicles, but the Stubaitalbahn is still well worth a visit if you get the chance, as it is one of the finest tram lines in the world.
