The bus transported a group of Romanian students and teachers on a two-week trip to Boves.
About Roman Diesel buses - their construction started in 1974. Roman 109 RD and Roman 111 RD (Rutier Diesel - countryside bus) were based on the MAN 535 model and Roman 112 UD (Urban Diesel - citybus) was based on MAN 890.
Roman 112 RDT-LD coaches were a Romanian concept, using technical components of previous models.
Yes, for the first look it remind MAN 890 - On this model also a lot of Ikaruses from Yugoslavia were build (Ikarus IK5)...
In time, there were different types of engines for Roman 111 RD: D 2156 HM 6U 192 Ch, D 2156 HM 81U 192 Ch or D 2156 MT85 U 240 Ch Turbo
( see link http://forum.transira.ro/viewtopic.php?t=847 ).
The 111 RD model looked more like MAN 535, it is the 112 UD version that came closer to MAN 890. However, they both have common features.
