2 may 1984 - Brighton, Sussex, UK. Yes, a STEAM bus - a PhotoTrans first, I believe? The American Stanley Company made very successful steam-powered vehicles, including this ‘mountain wagon’ from 1913 - very quiet in operation, reliable and very fast. The body design is typical of the early days, and would have a canvas cover to protect the passengers when it rained. The restoration is also typically American – a bit ‘over the top’ and rather too shiny and perfect for my taste. A remarkable bus, though.
