Horse tram #1869
2 october 2008 - Timisoara, Romania – Piata Libertatil. Possibly the oldest vehicle ever shown on Phototrans (unless you know better……). Timisoara was the first city in the whole of Europe to have streets lit by electricity, and only the second to introduce horse trams (1867). This tram on display in the city centre is claimed to date from 1869, although I wonder how much original construction remains – today’s fleet number certainly isn’t original!
