26 september 2006 - Gotha, Hersdorfstrasse. Some of these trams haven’t been seen before on TWB, so this is a final Gotha selection. Here’s 301, the first KT4D in the fleet, running a journey from Gotha Ost direct to the depot – usually Line 3 but here showing ‘Line 1’ because the Hauptbahnhof terminal loop was being rebuilt.

1 august 2004 - Gotha, Hersdorfstrasse. Tatra 302 waits at the junction with Huttenstrasse for a replacement bus service linking to the Hauptbahnhof whilst the line is closed for track repairs. The destination screen (unusually) shows Line 3, which normally runs just a few special trips a day.

26 september 2006 - Gotha, Nelkenberg. And here’s 302 heading another tram down the twisting, single track from Gotha Ost, again routed direct to the Hospital. Double tram working in Gotha is extremely rare, but is here necessitated by the use of Gotha Ost as the main city terminus whilst the Hauptbahnhof is out of action – there isn’t enough capacity on this single-track section to accommodate all the trams needing to use it.

1 august 2004 - Waltershausen, Germany – Gleisdreieck. The name of this place in English, roughly translated, is ‘triangular track’ – which is exactly what it is – the junction of the main Thuringerwaldbahn line and the little branch to Waltershausen town, which runs as a single shuttle tram.

17 september 2020 - Gotha, Siedelhofstraße. Udało mi się na szczęście uwiecznić trochę podmiejskich klimatów tuż przy wyjeździe z miasta, bo niestety przy niepewnej pogodzie i niskiej częstotliwości kursowania linii 4, nie odważyłem się pojechać dalej na zdjęcia.

20 may 2005 - Gotha – near Reinhardsbrunn. The Thuringerwaldbahn runs parallel to a DB branch line along this stretch, but the railway service is very sparse – it’s just possible to photograph train and tram together, but you have to be extremely patient (I never managed it).

Tatra KT4D trams bought from nearby Erfurt now run almost all Gotha services, replacing a variety of older Düwag cars obtained from the former West Germany after unification. This one when pictured was on test, still wearing Erfurt livery.

20 may 2005 - Gotha, Germany – Kreiskrenkenhaus. Ex-Erfurt 548 turns at the newly-built loop at the district hospital. All Thuringerwaldbahn services perform a double run to serve this point, turning in off the main line and out again. Gotha city service Line 1 also terminates here.

8 august 2006 - Waltershausen, pętla przy dworcu. Na terenie tego miasteczka kursuje linia tramwajowa nr 6. Dowozi ona chętnych do dużego trójkąta torowego na skrzyżowaniu z linią 4, gdzie mozna sie przesiąść na tramwaj do Gothy albo do tabarzu. Skomunikowanie oczywiście gwarantowane!

26 september 2006 - Gotha, Sundhausen - Kreiskrankenhaus. This tram from Tabarz will go around the hospital loop just ahead, before retracing its steps and then turning right towards Gotha city centre. It can’t get to the normal terminus at Hauptbahnhof, of course, so is going to terminate instead at Gotha Ost.
